CNNC joins UK for research on key nuclear technology

CNNC Environmental Co Ltd and the China Institute of Radiation Protection, both subsidiaries of CNNC, signed a memorandum of understanding with the UK’s Innovative Physics Limited in London during the 10th China-UK Economic and Financial Dialogue, which took place on June 17.

Hollingbery George, UK Minister of State for Trade Policy at the Department for International Trade, Zhang Jianhua, deputy director of the China Atomic Energy Authority, Deng Ge, secretary-general of the China Atomic Energy Authority, and Cao Shudong, vice-president of CNNC, attended the signing ceremony.

According to the agreement, CNNC will cooperate with Innovative Physics Limited to carry out research on five core nuclear technologies and share the intellectual property rights of all research discoveries.

According to CNNC, the partnership was a result of the civil nuclear agreement signed between the Chinese and British governments and between CNNC and NIS Co Ltd.

During the 10th China-UK Economic and Financial Dialogue, a series of events took place where Chinese and UK representatives discussed economic issues, cooperation in financial services, and trade and investment.

A total of 69 agreements were reached during the event, one of which was a cooperation agreement on nuclear waste management and nuclear facility decommissioning.
