98% of China Energy's Coal-fired Power Plants Achieve Ultra-low Emissions

Thanks to technological innovation and reform, China Energy Investment Corporation, China's largest coal-fired power company, has achieved desulphurization and denitrogenation of all its coal-fired power plants, and 98 percent of its regular coal-fired power plants have achieved ultra-low emissions.

"In the future, coal will be a new source of clean energy," asserted an executive from China Energy at the 2019 Forum on International Engineering and Technologies for Clean Electricity, revealing that after renovation with China Energy's independently-developed technologies, Hainan Ledong Power Plant has witnessed the emissions of smoke, carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxide remarkably lower than the current standards.

Hydropower development is another path for the group's transformation and growth. By integrating core technology research and development with the industrial chain, China Energy aims at all links from hydrogen production to storage, fuel cell system integration, infrastructure construction and terminals, which combine to provide solutions for the entire hydropower industrial chain.

"Our solar-wind coupling power generation demonstration project in Zhangjiakou, Hebei Province, involves multiple links from solar-wind coupling power generation to hydrogen production, hydrogen storage and hydrogen utilization, and is expected to serve the 2022 Winter Olympic Games," remarked the executive.

With a total asset of 1.8 trillion yuan, China Energy has a coal capacity of 520 million tons; the 477 generating units in its 163 coal-fired power plants total an installed capacity of 182 million kilowatts, accounting for 15.8 percent of the national total; its production capacity of coal chemicals reaches 15 million tons; and its installed capacity of wind power amounts to 38.29 million kilowatts, ranking first in the world.
